About Linda Penzur

Jewelry has been my passion and my business for the past 45 years.

As a child I was fascinated with jewelry, and by the time I was 14 I was earning extra money by making earrings from broken strands of beads to sell to my friends. During high school I studied jewelry-making briefly at the Philadelphia College of Art; by the age of 18 I had a catalogue of forged earrings, necklaces and bracelets, which I sold for a few years to shops across the country. Settling in Marin County, California, in 1970, I opened my first retail shop and have been designing and making jewelry ever since.

Always looking for fresh ideas, I have continued to search out and study all kinds of jewelry — ancient, ethnic, vintage and contemporary — from all cultures and continents, visiting many of the famous collections in the great museums of Europe. While the Art Nouveau jewelry of Rene Lalique has been a great inspiration, I have also been greatly influenced by Georg Jensen, Alexander Calder and many other 20th century jewelers, in addition to the Memphis Italian design movement of the 1980s. I love to mix gold and silver, develop and combine unique textures, and use unusual stones, but above all else — beyond just having an intriguing design — I believe that jewelry must be wearable, comfortable and complement the human form.

I hope you enjoy this new portfolio of the pieces that I have made since closing my shop in 2015.  If you are interested in purchasing one of them please contact me using the form below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  Sorry, I no longer do any repairs or custom work.
